Abstract

Agreements are a cornerstone of successful relating, and are especially critical in multi-partnering forms of relationship. In this practical workshop, the author, an expert polyamorous coach and counselor, will discuss some of the key components of creating successful relationship agreements (elaborated in her KISSable Agreements Workbook). These tools and processes are based on a variety of sources including her own work, a review of literature, numerous discussion/focus groups, and the real experiences of her polyamorous/open clients around the world during 15+ years of private practice. Through lecture, discussion, and exercises, attendees will learn and/or practice key concepts such as a) “getting to win-win-win” and why your relationship needs your needs; b) the difference between requests and demands and why that matters; c) Safer Sex Agreements vs. Relationship Agreements and what to include – or not! -- in each; d) 5 reasons even good agreements sometimes fail; and e) how to use Time-Limited Agreements to rebuild trust after an affair or broken agreement. Workshop attendees will find out how a little structure can create space for fabulous freedom, and improved relationships of all kinds.
